What does sleep do for us?

Sleep restores our physical and mental health and allows us to function at our best.  Not getting enough sleep, or poor sleep depletes our energy, reduces mental sharpness and increases the risk of accidents while driving, or on the job.  Often times symptoms credited to stress, aging or an existing medical illness are due to sleep problems.
